The mission of the program is to train predoctoral students rigorously and broadly in Glycoscience by integrating both chemical and biological approaches.
Objectives of the program:
- Cross-train CHEM and BCMB/MIBO/IDIS students so that they are familiar with and conversant in both chemistry- and biochemically-based methodologies and technologies to study important biological questions.
- Involve students in discussions of the most significant research publications and discussions with leaders in the Glycoscience field such that the students can learn to identify critical deficiencies or gaps in knowledge and to identify the tools or technologies needed to address these deficiencies.
- Provide opportunities to minority, disabled, and disadvantaged students to successfully complete graduate training in Glycoscience
