Summary of Glycoscience Training Program Requirements in addition to departmental requirements

  1. Core Courses:
    • Advanced Topics in Glycobiology (BCMB 8130, offered spring in odd numbered years)
    • Advanced Topics in Glycochemistry (CHEM 8390, offered fall in even numbered years)
  2. 2. A course in statistics. The specific course should be applicable to the student’s research and decided by the student and advisor. Possible courses include STAT 6315, CHEM 8860, BINF 8210, BINF 8441, STAT 8090, BIOS 7010, EPID 8560. Other courses can be approved by the GTP Executive Committee. Students who have taken a relevant course in statistics can waive this requirement by petitioning the GTP Executive Committee.
  3. Glycoscience Journal Club (BCMB 8080, fall and spring semesters)
  4. GTP Seminars and Discussion (fall and spring semesters)
  5. Yearly attendance at the GTP Annual Retreat
  6. Yearly meeting with the GTP Executive Committee to evaluate progress and provide feedback
