Mutant Name: pmr5
| Gene Name | PMR5 |
| Protein Name | Hypothetical protein |
| Mutagen | EMS |
| Category | forward genetics |
| Organism | Arabidopsis thaliana |
| Ecotype | Col |
| Donor | |
| General Description |
1. The pmr5 mutant is resistant to powdery mildew, but not to unrelated pathogens. pmr5-mediated resistance did not require signaling through either the salicylic acid or jasmonic acid/ethylene defense pathways. 2. PMR5 belongs to a large family of plant-specific genes of unknown function. |
| Organ Specificity |
1. Like pmr6 leaves, pmr5 leaves were shorter, rounder, and cupped slightly upward. 2. PMR5 was expressed at approximately the same level in all tissues tested; flowers, siliques, stems, uninfected leaves and leaves 3 dpi with Erysiphe cichoracearum. |
| Impact on Wall | |
| Impact on Sugar Composition | 1. the pmr5 cell walls were enriched in pectin and exhibited a reduced degree of pectin modification. |
