Mutant Name: qua1

Gene Name QUA1
Protein Name glycosyltransferase
Mutagen T-DNA
Category forward genetics
Organism Arabidopsis thaliana
Ecotype Ws
Donor
General Description The mutant has a dwarf phenotype, reduced cell adhesion, and the galacturonic acid content reduced to 25% of the wide type.
Organ Specificity Reduced cell adhesion was observed in several different organs(roots, hypocotyls, leaves).
Impact on Wall Mutant cell walls showed a 25% reduction in galacturonic acid levels compared with the wild type, indicating reduced pectin content, whereas neutral sugars remained unchanged.
Impact on Sugar Composition 25% less GalA, rhamnose levels remain unchanged. Neutral sugars remained unchanged.
