Mutant Name: sku5
| Gene Name | SKU5 |
| Protein Name | monocopper oxidase [Precursor] |
| Mutagen | T-DNA |
| Category | forward genetics |
| Organism | Arabidopsis thaliana |
| Ecotype | Ws |
| Donor | |
| General Description |
1. In sku5 mutanut, the roots skew and loop away from the normal downward direction of growth on inclined agar surfaces. 2. sku5 roots and etiolated hypocotyls are slightly shorter than normal and exhibit a counterclockwise (left-handed) axial rotation bias. 3. SKU5 is an extracellular glycosyl phosphatidylinositol-anchored glycoprotein. |
| Organ Specificity |
1. SKU5 is expressed ubiquitously but most strongly in expanding tissues. 2. SKU5 is glycosylated and modified by glycosyl phosphatidylinositol and localized to both the plasma membrane and the cell wall. |
| Impact on Wall | 1. The axial twisting of sku5 is caused by differential cell expansion that begin in the elongation zones. |
